Alice D. Milliron Brinton, age 74, of Laceyville, PA, passed away at her home on Golden Hill on Sunday morning, September 23, 2018.
Alice was born on December 13, 1943 in West Chester, PA the daughter of the late Ralph R. Milliron Sr., who passed away January 14, 1988 and Mary Linden Hickman Milliron, who passed away March 15, 2014. She belonged to several 4-H Clubs and was Vice President and President of Future Homemakers of America. Alice was a graduate of Downingtown High School with the Class of 1961. Throughout high school she worked at the Downingtown Farmers Market selling men's clothing. Alice was a graduate of the Philadelphia Modeling School in 1960 and was a contestant in the 1960 Miss West Chester Pageant. In October of 1961 Alice married Paul Brinton at the Skinner's Eddy United Methodist Church, and they were married for 7 years and had three children, Sherry, Thomas, and Timothy.
In Alice's lifetime she was active in numerous associations and organizations. She was appointed Deputy Constable for two years of West Goshen, near West Chester, PA. Alice was a very supportive and caring woman and helped hundreds of people. From 1977-1990, she was the owner-director of the House of Serenity Inc., which was a halfway house for recovering alcoholics and drug addiction. In 1980 she founded the West Chester 307 Club, which is a recovery club in West Chester, PA. She was a member of Dr. Bob and Bill W. 12 Step Programs in Chester and Wyoming County. Alice was also a real estate agent for Century 21 in West Chester as well as Century URS in Tunkhannock, PA. She also worked as a cashier, security guard, and a packer for Proctor and Gamble.
Alice was a very artistic woman who loved making homemade decorations for the 4 th of July and Christmas with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved dressing up for holidays such as 4 th of July, Christmas, and Easter. She would go all out in red, white, and blue for the 4 th of July. Alice loved Christmas and would start decorating for it in November and sometimes keep up the decorations until Valentine's Day. She loved to go shopping and taking trips the beach, especially Atlantic City. In her later years she liked to watch the daily soap operas on TV and she enjoyed making donations towards the wounded warriors and disabled veterans. Alice was very family oriented, she loved having parties for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved being surrounded by her family, her family was her whole world and she loved each family member very much.
Alice is survived by her three children, Sherry Dulaney and her husband Carl of Towanda, PA; Thomas Brinton Sr. of Forkston, PA; and Timothy Brinton of Laceyville, PA; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers Ralph R. Milliron Jr. and his wife Gloria of Laceyville, PA and James Milliron and his wife Kelly of Laceyville, PA as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her long-time family friend David Ross, who passed away on March 22, 2014.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29,2018 at 12:00 Noon at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main Street Laceyville, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
