Alison Bowman Reaves, age 55, of Meshoppen, PA passed away peacefully on Friday morning, July 31, 2015 at her home in Auburn Center surrounded by her family.
Alison was born on May 5, 1960 the daughter of the late Robert D. Bowman (June 25, 2005) and Gladys Roberts Bowman (November 3, 2001). She was the wife of Kenneth W. Reaves, of Auburn Center, PA. She was a graduate of Elk Lake High School with the class of 1978. She also attended Susquehanna County Vo-Tech for business. Alison was a C.N.A. for 13 years with Carpenter Care Center in Tunkhannock, PA. She also worked as a personal home health care provider in Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties.
Alison was active in the Order of the Eastern Star Meshoppen Chapter #70 and served as a Sentinel for two years. She was an avid bowler at Mountainside Lanes in Wyalusing, PA. She was in multiple leagues at Mountainside Lanes for over 25 years which included the 7:00 PM Women's League on Wednesday nights and the Mixed League on Sunday nights. Alison enjoyed camping and fishing at Sylvan Beach, NY and Mill Race near Benton, PA. She also enjoyed reading, baking, and especially playing bingo in Laceyville, Elk Lake, Montrose, and Turning Stone Casino.
Besides her husband, Alison is survived by her children Jamie and Tim Ryce of Meshoppen, PA; Allen and Alicia Bowman of Springville, PA; Wade and Sara Bowman of Ringoes, NJ and eight grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother and his wife, Robert L. "Butch" and Young Hui Bowman of Clifton Park, NY; sisters and their husbands, Diana and Terry Wells of Ephrata, PA; Terrie and Doug Taylor of Laceyville, PA; Patricia and Nelson Brackbill of Troy, PA; Gretchen and Brian Martin of Narvon, PA; brother in law and his wife, Mitchell and Marita Martin of Grand Bay, AL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents Alison is preceded in death by five grandchildren.
Funeral services for Alison will be on Wednesday morning, August 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 SR 6, Meshoppen, PA with Lay Minister Pam Wright of Luther's Mills United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen, PA following the service. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, August 4, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 PM , and on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Eastern Star Services will be conducted at 7:45 PM on Tuesday evening, by the members of the Eastern Star Meshoppen Chapter #70.
