Obituary

Allan "Alley Cat" Lee Vanderpool, age 75, of Camptown, PA passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at his home.

Allan was born on June 3, 1942 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Stephen P. (d. 1987) and Helen M. Wullen Vanderpool.

He graduated from Owego Free Academy with the class of 1962. After high school Allan enlisted in the US Army to serve his country. Allan was employed with Osram/Sylvania for 35 ½ years.

Allan married the former Donna Marie Otis on September 6, 1975 in Camptown, PA. After their retirement they loved to travel together all over the US and Europe. Allan was especially proud to show Donna around the country of Germany where he was station in the US Army.

He was a member of the Gardner Warner Post # 154 American Legion. Alan loved to fish and looked forward to his annual spring trip to Canada. He also loved to hunt, especially around Tupper Lake in the Adirondacks. He was very fond of his lawn work. He thoroughly enjoyed following the Wyalusing Valley high school sport teams and loved to watch the Ram wrestlers. He loved to spend time with his family, in particular his grandkids, who called him "Boppy".

Allan is survived by his wife, Donna Vanderpool of home; his son Tod Lewis of Spring, TX; his grandchildren, Penny Jo, Cassidy, and Christopher Lewis; his brother/sister-in-laws, Gary and Phyllis Otis and Larry and Janice Otis; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Howard Vanderpool, Laverne Vanderpool, Marjorie Brown, and Norma Coleman.

Funeral services for Allan will be held on Monday, September 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St. with Lay Minister Vickie Ellis of the Beaver Meadows and South Auburn United Methodist Churches officiating. Interment will follow at the Camptown Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the members of the Wyalusing American Legion Post #534 . Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday for 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
