Obituary

Allie "Sonny" "Sunshine" Heeman, Jr., age 71, of Silvara, PA passed away Tuesday morning, February 9, 2016 at his home.

Sonny was born on July 24, 1944 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Allie C. and Gladys S. Kithcart Heeman, Sr. He attended Wyalusing High School.

He was employed with the Brickyard in Binghamton, NY for many years. He also worked for Ayers Supply in Clarks Summit, PA and with Tinker Heeman in stone quarries.

When he was younger, Sonny enjoyed playing softball. He took great pleasure in hunting and target shooting. He was a huge Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching children playing baseball and softball. Most of all he loved spending time with family especially at Sunday and holiday dinners.

Sonny is survived by his children Theresa Profit of Warrenville, SC, Mark Heeman of Montrose, PA, and Brian Heeman of Langley, SC; his siblings Joyce Osterhout of Susquehanna, PA, Melvin Heeman and his wife Jeanie of North Augusta, SC, and Edward Heeman and his wife Marjie of Owego, NY; his special niece Jennifer Norton of Silvara, PA; his brother-in-law Phil Norton of Silvara, PA; his sister-in-law Judy Heeman of Newark Valley, NY. He is also survived by his special caregiver, Kay Shelton, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife who he married on July 14, 2001, Dorothy "Maggie" Allen Heeman (d. June 6, 2003); his sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Jerry Brown; his sister Louise Norton; his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Clara Heeman; his sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Charlie Slater; his brother-in-law Robert Osterhout; his nephews Duane "Duffer" Heeman, Melvin Heeman, Jr., and John Norton; and his great niece Carina Heeman.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA with Reverend Richard Card officiating. Interment will follow at the Camptown Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Sonny's name to the R.T.L. Baseball/Softball Association or to the Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, PA 18848.
