Arlene Lois Werts, age 91, of Laceyville, PA formerly of Browntown, Wyalusing Township, passed away Tuesday evening, December 9, 2014 at the Loyalsock Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, her place of residence for the past year and a half.

Arlene was born on Norway Ridge, PA, the daughter of the late Marley R. and Mildred Roberts Miller on September 12, 1923. She was a graduate of the Wyalusing High School Class of 1941. Arlene worked in the office at Vandervort Mills in Laceyville, PA for many years. Arlene was married to the late Harvey E. Werts. They were married for over 60 years and together they had three children.

Arlene was a member of the New Era Methodist Church as well as the American Legion Women's Auxillary of Wyalusing, she was also a Wyalusing Township Republican Committeewoman. Arlene was a giver to the community as she volunteered her time to help many organizations in the Wyalusing area. She enjoyed flowering, gardening, reading, and camping with her husband.

Arlene is survived by her son Edward A. Werts (Sharon) of Baltimore, MD; daughters Janice K. Surrett of Laceyville, PA and Lois M. Boukelif of Boca Raton, FL; her grandchildren Todd Werts (Michelle) of Manassas, VA; Debbie McClain (Shawn) of Charlotte, NC; Mandy Norton of Baltimore, MD; Jemma Gregoire (Ray) of Hughesville, PA; Chantel Surrett of Auburn Center, PA; Kristie Force of College Station, TX; Jenna Boukelif of Boca Raton, FL; Sonia Davito (Carlos) of Mesa, AZ; Jason Boukelif of Boca Raton, FL; and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Gordon Miller (Jeanie) of Wyalusing, PA; sister Sandra Mills of Wilkes-Barre, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents Arlene is preceded in death by her brother Robert Miller.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 12:00 PM, noon, at the New Era Methodist Church with Pastor Edward Zinser officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Terrytown Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the services.
