Obituary

Arlo Willard McMicken, age 68, of East Third Street, Wyalusing, PA passed away suddenly at his home on Friday afternoon, March 20, 2015.

Arlo was born on November 2, 1946 in Towanda, PA the son of the late Willard Roy McMicken, who passed away on May 27, 1994 and Jenny B. Barnes McMicken, of North Flat, Laceyville, PA. Arlo was the husband of the former Gwendolyn Hoffman who he married on December 31, 1976.

Arlo graduated from Wyalusing High School with the class of 1964. After graduation, Arlo was employed as a welder for Cornell Manufacturing in Laceyville, for over 40 years. He was later employed at the Penn Mart in Wyalusing, PA, for the last 5 years.

Arlo was a member of the Skinner's Eddy United Methodist Church and a member of the Sayre Sportsman's Club. He was also a member of the bowling leagues at Mountainside Lanes in Wyalusing, PA and Starlight Lanes in Towanda, PA. He was a trustee for Hunts for Healing located in South Auburn, PA. Arlo enjoyed gunsmithing, trap shooting, skeet shooting, and fishing, particularly his spring trips to Canada with his numerous friends. Arlo loved to spend time with his family especially his special granddaughter Kendalynn, as she would bring him so much joy and was the light of his life.

Besides his wife of 38 years and mother, Arlo is survived by his sons Jonathan R. McMicken of Scranton, PA; Shannon E. McMicken of Ghent Hill, PA; his daughter in law Karen Allen McMicken of Meshoppen, PA; his daughters Karen Maxwell and her husband David II of Mildred, PA; Brenda Polons and her husband Joseph of Dickson City, PA; brother Phillip McMicken of Laceyville, PA; sister Marietta Weller and her husband David of Landonburg, PA; grandchildren Matt Wallikas; T.J. Wallikas; Sophie Polons; Kenny Higley; Katherine Higley; Anastasia Maxwell, David Maxwell III; Shannon Marie Martin; Josh McMicken; Ryan McMicken; Kendalynn McMicken; Amanda McMicken; Jessica McMicken; and Brandon McMicken. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, mother in law Patricia W. Hoffman of Wyalusing, PA; special friend Ron Masters of Wyalusing, PA; and many other close friends. Besides his father Arlo is preceded in death by his best friend, special hunting and fishing buddy, and son Joel Clayton McMicken who passed away on May 19, 2014.

Funeral services for Arlo will be on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church Street, Wyalusing, PA with the Dr. Reverend Barry Ballard of the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Wyalusing Borough Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home the day of the service from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
