Obituary

Love is more than a feeling. It is the act of giving of one's self to others without condition or expectation of anything in return. Nothing is needed in return because the act of loving brings true joy to the giver. Ashley Nicole Roehrig loved. She loved all who were blessed enough to cross her path. She loved her community and all of its members. She loved her friends. She loved her students. She loved her family. She always saw beauty where others could not, and she was always able to see and appreciate the goodness in everyone. Ashley loved fiercely and unconditionally, and she brought joy to all who knew her.

Amid the hectic schedule involved in raising a family, Ashley always found time to slow down and enjoy the simple gifts of life. She enjoyed quiet summer mornings on her deck with a cup of coffee while she watched the birds at the bird feeder. She enjoyed watching her children splash and play in the pool, and she loved to join in all of their fun games. She loved to design and create t-shirts and crafts for special events. She was an amazing photographer, and she shared that gift with everyone. When busy days would wind down to a close, she enjoyed cuddling on the couch and watching Grey's Anatomy. Ashley always loved to watch and support her children in all of their activities. She never missed a game or a birthday party or any activity that they were involved in. She coached t-ball, softball, and soccer so that she could be present and involved in the lives of her children and the children in her community. Any time that one of her children would call her, it did not matter what was happening around her; she would answer the phone and be there for them. Even with all of the time and love that she devoted to her children, she always found time to go on dates and spend time with her husband. She filled his days with constant acts of thoughtfulness and kindness, and she made sure that he knew that he was truly loved beyond measure.
Ashley worked tirelessly to renovate and fix her house in Herrickville to make it into a home where all were welcome. She loved that all of the children in the neighborhood would come over any time they wanted to play. The door was always open to all. She made Thanksgivings warm and welcoming. She created countless magical Christmas memories for her children and her family. She hosted cookie baking parties for her children, nieces, nephews, and all of their friends. She decorated the house for every event, season, and holiday. Ashley created a home that was always buzzing with life, love, and joy.

Ashley's dream was to complete her college degree and become a teacher. In November 2024, despite challenges and hardships that life threw her way, her dedication and perseverance turned that dream into a reality. She was so excited to love her students and to watch them grow. Although she was not able to teach for long, her creativity, intelligence, humor, and compassion made an impact on all her students and co-workers that will last a lifetime.

The world is a better place because Ashley was in it. It will always be better because of the joy and love that she brought into it. Although she is dearly missed, the echoes of her life and her love will continue to reverberate throughout the world forever.
