IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Avery Grace
Roehrig
June 9, 2016 – January 20, 2025
It's been said that what truly matters is not the amount of years in one's life, but the amount of life in one's years. Avery Grace Roehrig was on this earth for eight years, and in those years, she lived more than most do in an entire lifetime. She was pure light and love and she spread that light and that love everywhere she went. Her smile and her laugh lifted anyone's spirit who was fortunate enough to be in her presence. If life was measured by our ability to love and to be loved, then Avery would have lived 1,000 years.
Avery loved her friends. She enjoyed playing and having fun with them, and she was always trying to come up with creative and thoughtful ways to express her gratitude for those friendships. Avery loved animals; especially her dogs, Cooper and Bentley, and her cat, Boo. However, Avery's deepest love was for her family. She loved playing with her little sister, Aubrey. She admired and emulated her big sister, Sydney. She loved watching her big brother, Shay, play basketball. She looked up to and loved spending time with her mother, Ashley Roehrig. Avery always loved being with her father and sharing her life with him. Avery was blessed with a large family including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved all of them profoundly and brought so much joy and happiness to all of their lives.
Avery loved life, and she experienced as much of it as she possibly could. She played soccer, danced, painted, sang, played the ukulele, and made inventions. She loved swimming, making smores, and staying up late to lie under the stars. She made crafts and sewed. She loved to go on walks and ride her bike. The list could go on forever because Avery lived every moment to the fullest with a joy and enthusiasm that was felt by everyone around her.
Avery was funny, silly, intelligent, inquisitive, creative, brave, protective, and full of joy. Above all, Avery Grace Roehrig was kind. She lived with a selfless empathetic kindness and compassion that was beyond her years. While we may not be able to hold her in our arms, we should all strive to hold her in our hearts. The kindness and love that she blessed us with is a gift that has changed this world forever. She is an example of how truly wonderful life can be.
Avery Grace Roehrig, a third-grade student at Wyalusing Elementary, is forever loved by her parents Matthew and Ashley Roehrig, siblings Sydney Friedlander, Shay Gartland, and Aubrey Roehrig; grandparents Doug Oswald, Eric and Pam (deceased) Risch, and Brian and Doreen Roehrig; great-grandparents Barbara Culver and Ralph and Jeanne Bailets, as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Wyalusing Valley High School on February 8, 2025 from 11:00am-1:00pm with a service to be held at 1:00pm. The Roehrig family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the community for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
