Obituary

Barbara J. Culver, a beloved figure in her community and cherished family member, passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on June 21, 1943, in Towanda, PA, Barbara’s life was marked by a deep love for her family, community, and a passion for service.

Barbara graduated from Wyalusing High School in 1962 and spent her early years in various roles, including working at George's Restaurant as a teenager and at Bendix for several years after high school. She took a leap of faith moving to Columbia, SC, with friends, where she continued her work at Argus. Returning to Northeastern Pennsylvania, she worked alongside her father at Automation, happily riding to work with him each day. Her diverse career also included part-time employment at the Sugar Run Post Office. Known for her caring nature, she spent much of her life babysitting many children, including her treasured nieces and nephews.

Barbara's personality shone through her unwavering affection for family and children, where she not only volunteered in the nursery at her church but also found immense joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family fondly remembers vacations filled with love and laughter at NASCAR races, camping trips, Knobels, and cherished moments at the Outer Banks, NC. Music was another great passion of Barbara’s; she loved gospel tunes, played the piano, and sang duets with her sister Carol at the Skinners Eddy Methodist Church and various venues.

Barbara was a dedicated volunteer, contributing over 40 years of service at Braintrim Baptist Church as well as helping out at Vacation Bible School. A homemaker at heart, she honed her cooking skills by learning from her mother, and her wonderful dishes will be missed by all who enjoyed them. Her creativity extended to crocheting baby blankets and hats for newborns, alongside her joy in tending to her beautiful backyard flowers.

Some of Barbara’s most precious memories involved traveling the country with her husband, David upon his retirement from P& G. They enjoyed many trips to Louisiana, Oklahoma, Nevada, and Wyoming to visit their daughter and grandchildren. Many trips to Kentucky to visit Roger and his family. A special trip to Las Vegas with her sister Carol, to attend the birth of her granddaughter. She also treasured their time spent at their property in Dallas, TX, creating lasting memories with her sister-in-law Louise and her husband, Skip Snyder.

Barbara is survived by her children, Betsy Gacha (Tim), Deborah Swenson (Scott), Gary Culver, Kendra Cornelius, Jessica Culver, and Marissa Culver, and son-in-law, Eric Risch; as well as her grandchildren, Brianna (Bryan), Emily (Jeremy), Laura (Angel), Matt, Rebecca, Natalie (Grant), Jared (Erin), Jacob, Josh, Brady, Erica (Tedroy), Jenna, Madison, Taylah (Kyle), Alexis, Nathan, and Owen; her great-grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, Winry, Mia, Eden, Sydney, Shay, Aubrey, Evelyn, Freya, Wyatt, Tedroy, Zakarai, and Weston; her siblings, Carol Furman, and Roger Repsher; and her sister-in-law, Linda English.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Culver (d. February 17, 2009); her parents, Frank Repsher, Jr. (d. May 18, 1967) and Evelyn Repsher Boyer (d. December 22, 2012); her stepfather, Charles Boyer; her daughter, Pamela Risch (d. June 3, 2023); her son-in-law, Herbert Cornelius (d. January 27, 2021); and her granddaughter, Ashley Roehrig (d. January 20, 2025); along with great-granddaughter Avery Roehrig (d. January 20, 2025); and brother-in-law, James Furman; and her in-laws, Orwyn and Dorothy Culver, Louise Culver Snyder and Skip Snyder, Philip Culver, and Robert Culver.

The memories of Barbara J. Culver will forever remain a source of comfort and joy to those who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and service continues to inspire all who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life. She will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
