Berton A. Hollister, Sr., age 85, of Auburn Center, PA passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday morning, December 18, 2022.

He was born on January 19, 1937 the son of the late Kenneth Hollister and Ruth Balliet.  He attended school in Auburn Center.  He drove coal truck then went on to become a Dairy Farmer for 45+ years, where he was a member of the Land O' Lakes Inc. Dairylea, also known as Leighton Valley Farms.

Berton and his wife, Rose Oakes Hollister have been married for 67 years, being married on August 26, 1956.  Together with their children they ran the farm.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jim Hollister (d. December 1, 2000); his brothers, Kenneth Hollister, Jr. and David Hollister; his sisters, Ruthann Fowler and Janice Mittelman; his son-in-law, John Fisher, Jr; his daughter-in-law, Donna Hollister; and a great-grandson.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Berton Hollister, Jr. of Meshoppen, PA, Laurie (Alan) Trible, Sr. of Meshoppen, PA and Bonnie Fisher of Forkston, PA; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.  He is also survived by his siblings, Madge and Alice Severcool Forkston, PA, Sarah Gernell of Mehoopany, PA, Winston Hollister of Laceyville, PA, and Sandra Carson of Massachusetts; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 SR 6, Meshoppen, PA with Reverend Charles Bishop of the Transue and Elk Lake Community Churches officiating.  Interment will follow at the Jersey Hill Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, December 21, 2022 from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

They family would like to thank the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice for their services.
