Betty Clapper Wootton, age 90, passed away peacefully with her granddaughters, Lisa and Lori by her side on Thursday, March, 2, 2017 at the Wyalusing Personal Care Home where she had been living since 2010.
Betty was born on March 23, 1926 in Clapper Hill, PA the daughter of the late Clifford S. and Helen Brown Clapper. She was a graduate of Laceyville High School with the class of 1944.
She married Elston Olin Wootton on October 24, 1944 and they were together until he passed away on August 19, 1987. She was employed with DuPont for many years until her retirement in the 1980's.
Betty was a longtime member of the Wysox Presbyterian Church. She was a long time supporter of the Wysox Volunteer Fire Company. She was well known for her baking especially her rolls and peanut butter fudge. Betty took great pleasure in traveling around the area to find great yard sales.
She is survived by her son, Gordon Lee Wootton and his wife Nancy of Alachua, FL; her grandchildren Lisa Ann Bacorn and her husband Edward of Towanda, PA, Lori Lee Horton and her husband Robert of Towanda, PA, Brandon Lee Wootton and his wife Aaron of Alachua, FL; her great-grandchildren Larry Baker, Jr. (Maryann), Seth Baker (Shamyrah), Matthew Horton (Melissa), Amanda Horton, Derek Wootton, Melinda Wootton, and Emory Wootton; her great-great grandchildren Ryan and Gage Horton and Aubrey Root; her step-grandchildren Stephen Preston , Lissa Klossner, and Terry Bacon; her step-great-grandchildren Mitchell Bacorn and Dalton Bacorn; her three special nieces Cathy, Leonna, and Dianne Salsman; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Marjorie Clapper Brewer, Ralph Clapper, Barbara Clapper Salsman, and Lyle Clapper.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to the Wyalusing Valley Personal Care Home (Activities Fund), 43850 Rt. 6, Wyalusing, PA 18853 or to the organization of the donor's choice.
The family would like to thank Wyalusing Personal Care Home and their staff for the exceptional care Betty received throughout the years she lived there.
