Brenda Louise Smiley, age 47, of Meshoppen, PA passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Commonwealth Health Wilkes-Barre General Hospital with her family by her side.

Brenda was born on March 3, 1977 in Altoona, PA the daughter of the late Robin Keith Butterbaugh (d. July 24, 1989) and Lewis "Jim" Butterbaugh, Jr. (d. August 17, 2013).  She was a graduate of Pittston High School with the class of 1995.

She was employed as a Cook with the Red Rock Job Corps. She was also employed with Cargill for some time.

Brenda enjoyed playing card games, particularly Spades and Pitch.  She loved animals and spending time with her family and friends, especially her nephew, Garrett.

She is survived by her sister, Shelly Dexter and her husband, Andrew and their son, Garrett of Meshoppen, PA. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.   Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Nancy Butterbaugh (d. November 2, 2018).

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Brenda.  Interment will take place at the Antis Cemetery in Antis Township, PA
