Mr. Carl (Pete) W. Button Jr., age 63, of 970E Avery Station Rd., Factoryville, PA. (East Lemon), passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday evening July 3,2012, at the Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, PA.
Pete was born in Meshoppen, PA. on April 2,1949, the son of the late Carl W. and Celia J. Very Button Sr. Pete grew up in the Laceyville and Meshoppen areas.
For many years, he was a truck driver for Ransom Quarries, in Olyphant, PA. Pete was also employed in his younger years, at the Bill Gulick Farm in West Auburn, PA.; Pinky Marbaker Farm and Burton Salsman Farm both in Laceyville, PA. He was also employed in the past years as a truck driver for Sam VanDeMark Trucking, of Laceyville, PA.; Endless Mountains Disposal; Wyoming Sand and Gravel, Dobrinski Trucking and Hughey Trucking all of Tunkhannock, PA.
In his spare time he was an avid fan of NASCAR Racing, with his favorite driver being Number "3" Dale Earnhardt, he also loved to hunt, especially coon hunting; Team Penning; and all Chevrolet vehicles.
Surviving is his wife the former Jeannie M. Shoemaker Button, with whom he has been with for the last 22 years, of East Lemon, PA. His children, William Button (Heather Stidd), of East Lemon, PA.; Celia (David) Sands, of Laceyville, PA.; Carl W. Button III (Bobbie Jean Bennett), of Wyalusing, PA.; Dorothy (Ronald) Cassellbury, of Towanda, PA.; and Bradley Button, of Tunkhannock, PA. also his step-children, Matthew (Lori) Rozelle, and Mark (Steph) Rozelle all of Tunkhannock, PA. as well as 25 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother in law, Mrs. Tina Shoemaker of East Lemon, PA.; his brother, Richard Button, of Vestal, NY; and his seven sisters, Eloise, of Wyalusing, PA.; Luwanna of Susquehanna, PA.; Joanne, of Wyalusing, PA.; MaryJane, of Binghamton, NY; Edna of Vestal, NY; Carol of Binghamton, NY; and Paula, of Tunkhannock, PA. and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Mellissa Button, a sister Rose Conroy, and two brothers in laws, Raymond Shoemaker, and Jimmy Shoemaker.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, July 7,2012 at 2:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Homes, Main St., Laceyville, PA. with long time family friend, Rev. Darrell Sands, officiating. Interment will be in the Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
