Obituary

Carol J. Davis, age 70, of 110 Maple Lane, Meshoppen, PA. entered eternal rest, on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, while at her home, in Myo Beach, near Meshoppen.

She was born on Oct. 22, 1943, in Lovelton, PA., the daughter of the late Elmer and Eunice Douglas Smith and the step daughter of the late Harold Dodge.

Carol spent her life caring and raising her family. In her early years, she worked the family farm and she cooked at the Tyler Memorial Hospital Cafeteria in Tunkhannock, PA. Most recently she retired from cooking and bartending at the Trail Inn, in Meshoppen. She enjoyed cooking for all of her family and friends. She took great pleasure in baking cookies for her grandkids, whom she was affectionly known as "Cookie Grandma".

She was a member of the South Auburn Grange #1188. Carol was an avid card player who enjoyed playing pitch on Wednesday nights with her friends.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Russell Totten of Nanticoke, PA. She will be sadly missed by her son Matthew (Billie Jo) Davis of Clymer, NY, and her five grandchildren, Mark, David and Caitlyn Barnett, of Morgantown, WV; Vanessa Barton and Dylan Davis, of Clymer, NY. Her brother Harold (Pat) Smith, of Danielsville, PA. and her five sisters, Regina Long, of Laceyville, PA; Helen Smith of West Nicholson, PA.; Donna (John) Robinson, of Meshoppen, PA.; Martha (Ira "Butch") Robinson of Meshoppen, PA.; Bonnie Vitonovetz of Mehoopany, PA., and several nieces and nephews, as well as a great family friend, Sue Cortwright, of West Nicholson, PA.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Smith (Jan. 4, 1970); Eunice Douglas Smith Dodge (Jan. 17, 2006); Harold Dodge (Jan. 15, 2005); her sister Betty Smith; and her three brothers Donald Smith; James Smith; and Robert Smith.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at 3:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA. with Rev. Rick Wormer, of the Tunkhannock Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Wyalusing Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, from 2:00 PM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to the charity of the donor's choice.
