Obituary

Charles P. Kurz, age 96, of LeRaysville, PA (formerly of Lansdale, PA) passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

He was born on March 20, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late Fred and Cecelia Schorr Kurz.

Charles was no stranger to hard work.  Beginning as a youngster, he helped on his parents' farm.  He took his farming skills to other employers.  Eventually, he spent many years as a foreman for Allan Myers.  He was later employed by the Public Works Department of Lansdale Borough until his retirement, ultimately moving permanently to LeRaysville with his wife to enjoy a slower pace.

Charles was proud of his 70+ year membership in the Masons, holding a dual membership with the Warren Lodge #310 F & AM of Collegeville, PA and the LeRay Lodge #471 F & AM of LeRaysville, PA.  He was also a longtime member of the Wentz's U.C.C. until transferring to the Dille Parish U.C.C.  He took great pleasure in hunting and being outdoors in general enjoying God's country.  One could find him tending his large vegetable garden until he was 90 years old.  He challenged himself daily to make others smile, often sharing a joke or two.  Visiting family and friends was a high priority.  He also had a knack of being able to fix anything needing repair.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Florence Schott Kurz (married June 23, 1951); his children, William Kurz of Pennsburg and Paula Wilkie (Richard) of Kulpsville, PA; as well as his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Adam, Addyson, and Audrey Kurz of Dayton, TX, Kate Wilkie of Kulpsville, PA and Blaire Wilkie-Balcon (Michael) of Morris Plains, NJ.

A Funeral Service for Charles will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 12:00 noon at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA with Reverend Barbara Rowlett and Pastor Sharon Rockefeller of the Dille Parish U.C.C. officiating.  The funeral service will begin with a Masonic Service performed by the members of the LeRay Lodge # 471 F & AM of LeRaysville.  Interment will follow at the Stevens Cemetery in LeRaysville.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 11:30 AM until the time of the service.

Due to the ongoing pandemic masks will be required to be worn in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Charles's name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children-Phila, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140 or the Dille Parish U.C.C., 903 Main St., LeRaysville, PA 18829.
