Obituary

Charles Robert Warley, age 76, died in his home after courageously battling many health issues.

Born in Hartford, CT, June 22, 1946, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Margaret M. Hill Warley.  Charles lived in Hartford CT, until the family moved to Spotswood, NJ in the early 1950's.

Charlie graduated high school in 1965, and joined the Marine Corps shortly after. He was a highly decorated Marine who attained the rank of Sergeant. Charlie served multiple combat missions in Vietnam as a gunner on a Huey which he affectionately called " Birds". He was a true hero, saving the lives of his " Brothers " after their Huey was shot down in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. Risking his life, he was able to get the wounded on his helicopter while taking on enemy fire. He was Brave, Selfless, and lived by the Marine Corp Value, Honor, Courage, and Commitment, leaving no man behind.

After battling many demons and figuring out how to live life after war, he settled down in Springville, PA where he was a carpenter. He attended and graduated from Keystone College where he majored in Environmental Science.

He loved fishing, hunting, and collecting coins. He was a great brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by many.

He is survived by his siblings, William Warley, of Winter Haven, FL; Midge Warley, of Winter Haven, FL; Walter (Joann) Warley, of Old Bridge, NJ; Patricia (Al) D'Ambra, of Oakham, MA; and Richard (Janet) Warley, of Spotswood, NJ, and many nieces and nephews, and cousins. Charles was also survived by his good friends, Tracy Vogel, Jonathan Vogel, and Joe McLeer, all of Meshoppen, PA. He was predeceased in death by two brothers, Edward Warley and Thomas Warley.

Private family burial will be held on Monday April 24, 2023 at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Arrangements were made through the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 SR6, Meshoppen, PA 18630.
