Obituary

Charlotte Jane Armstrong age 86 of Laceyville, PA (formerly Riegelsville, PA) passed away peacefully and completely loved with her daughter Ruthie by her side Tuesday September 1st.

The first of two daughters of the late Maurice "Sticks" and Ruth (Santee) Urban she was born at home in Hellertown, PA on April 13, 1929.

Upon graduating early from Liberty High School (Bethlehem, PA) in 1945 the forever bright and witty young Charlotte followed her father's footsteps, entered the workforce, and began her career as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone.

An accomplished seamstress she left the telephone company and for over three decades she dedicated her skill to various sewing facilities including Botany 500 Suits and one of the first manufacturers in Pennsylvania to produce pantyhose. She retired fulfilled from Penn Engineering, a pace maker manufacturer in 1994.

Charlotte had infinite knowledge for classic entertainment trivia and a rare gift for making holiday family gatherings so memorable and special. She loved a good crossword puzzle, compassion for animals large and small, reading her favorite authors Baldacci, Cornwell, King, and Patterson. Always an American patriot she held a special spot in her heart for our veterans.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter Ruthie and her husband Russell Leichliter of Laceyville, PA. Also by her grandchildren and their spouses, Faith (Tobias) Rodill of Oakton, VA, Daniel (Rachel) Leichliter, of Caribou, ME, along with five great-grandchildren she adored watching grow very much. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Shannon of Bethlehem, PA, as well as her beloved niece and nephews.

Charlotte is also survived by her first husband of 23 years and friend, Ralph Wohlbach of Doylestown, PA and longtime companion of 30 years Michael Killough of Hellertown, PA.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her infant daughter and late husband of 11 years Stanley J. Armstrong of Rieglesville, PA
