Cheryl Ann Repsher VanDeMark, age 75, of Laceyville, PA passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at her home.
Cheryl was born on December 1, 1948 in Meshoppen, PA the daughter of the late Floridon "Bump" (d. July 23, 1991) and Lorraine Brotzman Repsher (d. December 28, 2012). She was a graduate of Wyalusing High School with the class of 1966.
After high school, Cheryl was employed with the Laceyville Discount Store and with her Uncle William Pierson at his accounting firm. She also was employed at George's Luncheonette, which is where she met the love of her life, Donald VanDeMark. They were married on April 27, 1968 and raised four children. Cheryl was also caregiver for many local children for many years. She loved to take care of children and loved spending time with her family.
She was a faithful member of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. With the church she was part of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, the Chairperson of the Memorial Fund, an Administrative Board Member, sang in the church choir, was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher and throughout the years she organized many dinners held at the church. She was Judge of Elections for Laceyville Boro for many years, a member of the Transue Friendship Club, and was very involved with the In Loving Memory Support Group that help parents who lost a child. Cheryl was the Girl Scout Cookie Mom for years and assisted with the Lee Furniture Club in Montrose to help those in need to buy furniture.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Donald VanDeMark; her children, Stacey Schwartztrauber (Chris) of Tunkhannock, PA, Todd VanDeMark of Factoryville, PA, and Michael VanDeMark (Heather) of Mechanicsburg, PA; her grandchildren, Adonia Barzilowski (Veto), Jordan Schwartztrauber (Victor Valentine), Courtney Schwartztrauber, Lindsay Schwartztrauber, Hailey VanDeMark, Todd VanDeMark, II, Lucas VanDeMark, Lauren VanDeMark, and Owen VanDeMark; her great-granddaughter, Mia Barzilowski, her siblings and spouses James and Cherie Repsher of Spring Hill, PA, Terri and Jeff Johnson of Hollenback, PA; her brothers/sisters-in-law, Ellen McClain of Golden Hill, PA, Keith and Rita VanDeMark of Golden Hill, PA, Connie and Mike Goodwin of Jenningsville, PA, Audrey and Robin Benjamin of Sugar Run, PA, and Debbie and John Carter of Stowell, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Loren VanDeMark, II (d. January 19, 1994); her sister and husband Elaine (d. March 10, 2020) and James Doty (d. July 27, 1989); and brothers-in-law Michael Mahoney (d. December 24, 1999) and Joe McClain (d. August 18, 2020).
A Funeral Service for Cheryl will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 1:00 from the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Folk and Reverend Bill Townsend officiating. Interment will follow at the Lacey Street Cemetery. Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation at the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm AND Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Cheryl's name to the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, 133 Doolittle Hill Rd., Laceyville, PA 18623.
