Mrs. Cheryl A. Carter Wiles, of Main St., Laceyville, PA, age 67, passed away early Saturday afternoon, January 9, 2016 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Memorial Hospital, in Towanda, PA.
Cheryl was born in Meshoppen, PA., on May 5, 1948, the daughter of the late Orell D. Carter, who passed away on June 11, 1976, and the late Jane VanGorden Carter Pierson, who passed away on July 14, 2014, Cheryl was also the step-daughter of Raymond "Rip" L. Pierson, who passed away on June 19, 1996. Growing up in Retta, PA. Cheryl was a graduate of the Elk Lake High School, class of 1966.
Living on Main St., Laceyville, PA, most of her life, she was a housewife and homemaker for her late husband, Lawrence "Larry" E. Wiles, who passed away on November 1, 2008, and their son Rob.
Cheryl was a long time member of the Meshoppen Chapter # 70, of the Order of Eastern Star. For many, many years, Cheryl, her late husband Larry, and her son Rob, took great pride in the up keep, and landscaping around their home, especially the long hours spent in their flower beds. In her spare time, she loved the time that she got to spend being surrounded by her family, and also the many hours visiting with her Laceyville neighbors, over the years. She also loved shopping, especially on Q.V.C. network.
Surviving is her son, Robert "Rob" Wiles, of Laceyville, PA; her sister Susan Ball, of Montrose, PA; her brother, Reid Carter of Stevensville, PA; brother in law, Charlie Dodge, of Laceyville, PA. and her brother in law and sister in law, Carol and Victor Lutz, of Virgina. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Shantel Gamble, of Montrose, PA; Dustin Ball, of Mayfield, PA; Anson Carter, of Lynn, PA; and Danielle Carter, of Retta, PA; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Beth Dodge, on October 22, 2010.
A Life Tribute Service for Cheryl will be held on Thursday evening January 21, 2016, at 8:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA, with Lay Minister Vickie Ellis officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday evening, from 7:00 PM until the time of the service. Eastern Star Services will be conducted preceding the services on Thursday evening, by the members of the Meshoppen Chapter # 70 of Eastern Star.
