Obituary
Christopher "Chris" Brian Bonavita, age 45, of Meshoppen, PA passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA.
Chris was born on April 10, 1971 the son of the late John J. Bonavita Sr. who passed away on October 14, 2015 and Mary Ann Bullock Bonavita who passed away on January 24, 2013. Chris attended Elk Lake High School. Chris was engaged to marry Lindsay Rae McIntyre. Chris was a truck driver for C. Bonavita Trucking. Chris helped run the family farm, Jon-Ann Farms and was self-employed as he worked in stone quarries in the surrounding area.
He was a member of the NRA, the Susquehanna County 4-H, and the Susquehanna County Pullers Association. Being a member of the pullers association was much more than just a membership, Chris has a deep love and passion for truck and tractor pulling. He has won many pulls throughout the area. He showed animals at the Hartford Fair and liked to attend the fairs in the area. Chris loved to spend time with his family especially his son Kyle.
Chris is survived by his son Kyle R. Bonavita of Auburn, PA; fiancé Lindsay Rae McIntyre and her daughter Bridgett G. McIntyre of Auburn, PA; sisters Cherie A. Bonavita; Cindy L. Bonavita; Patty L. Bonavita; and brother Stanley J. Bonavita and his wife Jennifer all of Auburn, PA. Also surviving are his nephews Alex J. Bonavita; Austin J. Bonavita; niece Autumn J. Bonavita; and extended family Kevin Palmer of Springville, PA. Besides his parents Chris was preceded in death by his brother John J. Bonavita Jr. who passed away on December 8, 2014 and sister Lori M. Bonavita who passed away on October 14, 2015.
Funeral services for Chris will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, SR 6, Meshoppen, PA with Reverend Gary Myers of the Biblical Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Jersey Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-9:00 PM.
