Claire A. Hercenberg, age 81, of Wyalusing, PA (formerly of New Era) passed away Tuesday morning, May 21, 2019, at the Highlands Healthcare Center, Laporte, PA.

Claire was born on May 9, 1938, in Lachine, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Joseph and Donalda Lareau Cayer. She spent her younger years in French Quebec then moved to Massachusetts and became a US Citizen. It was in Massachusetts where she met her husband, Dmitry R. Hercenberg, Jr. while working at the JJ Newberry Department Store in Holyoke, MA and they married on May 12, 1956. After they wed, they moved to New Era, PA to raise their family.  Claire and Dmitry were married for 55 years before his passing on February 13, 2011.

Claire was employed as Foster Grandparent with the Bradford Tioga Head Start and worked with the Wyalusing Area School District.

She was a member of New Era United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary Post #452 in Mildred, PA.  She treasured crocheting and was very proud to donate blankets to the elderly. She also enjoyed taking trips to visit her family in Massachusetts.  She will be greatly missed.

Claire is survived by children, Sherry Windoloski and her fiancé, Roland Proulx, of Mildred, PA and Tim Hercenberg, of Lakeland, FL; her grandchildren, Matthew Windoloski and Nathan Windoloski both of Springfield, MA; five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Rita Petersen, of West Springfield, MA, and Real Cayer, of Granby, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Claire was preceded in death by her son, Eric Hercenberg, her sisters, Denise Cayer, and Yvette Matlock, and her brothers, Roland Cayer and Norman Cayer.

There will be a memorial service at a later date in Massachusetts at the convenience of the family.
