Dale Byron Sturdevant, age 72, of 486 Sturdevant Road, Wyalusing, PA (Herrickville) passed away at his home Thursday afternoon November 6, 2014.

Dale was born on November 25, 1941 in Towanda, PA the son of the late Henry Byron and Sara VanNess Sturdevant. He was a graduate of Wyalusing High School.

Dale was a man who worked in variety of different places. He owned and operated the Sturdevant Family Farm in Herrickville. He then worked as a logger and at a sawmill as well. More recently he owned and operated Sturdevant Stone.

Dale was a former member of the Herrickville United Methodist Church as well as the Herrick Township Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as a Herrick Township Supervisor many years ago. Dale enjoyed animals, hunting, and NASCAR. He enjoyed racing so much that he was the former owner of Sturdevant Racing.

Dale is survived by his son David Byron Sturdevant and his wife Mary of Herrickville, PA. He is also survived by grandchildren Tasha Sturdevant; Katlyn Sturdevant; Cassandra Sturdevant; Brittany Bennett and her husband Shawn; Casey Butler; Jonathon Tedesco; great-grandchildren Shawn Bennett Jr.; Aiden Bennett; sister Jane Bullock and husband Olney of Orwell Township, PA; long-time companion Christine Wheeler of Herrickville, PA; former wife and close friend Patsy Sturdevant of Herrickville, PA; and very close cousin Betty Page of Milan, PA. Dale is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Dale is preceded in death by his son Dean Bryan Sturdevant who passed away on October 24, 2003.

A memorial service for Dale will be held on November 11, 2014 at 3:00 PM from the Herrickville United Methodist Church with Reverend William Westbrook officiating.
