IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dave
Roosa
October 26, 1933 – December 5, 2018
Dave Roosa, age 85, of Tunkhannock Pennsylvania passed away at home early Wednesday morning, December 5, 2018.
Dave was born October 26, 1933 in Endicott, New York, he was the son of the late Byron and Isabella Gordon Roosa. He was a 1952 graduate of Union Endicott High School where he starred as a football player on both sides of the line. In February of 1953 he entered the service where he became a paratrooper in the 82 Airborne Division with the rank of Sargent. Dave left the service in 1956 and joined the New York (Bell) Telephone Company, starting a career which would become his life-long passion. Just a few years later he left Bell to work for the Commonwealth Telephone Company in Dallas, PA where he stayed for 33 years. The people at Commonwealth were his extended family and right to the end he loved to talk about those years and the people he worked with.
Dave was a devoted family man and was married for 58 years to Audrey P. Roosa, until her death on November 17, 2017. Having enjoyed 23 years of retirement, Audrey and Dave used much of their time to follow the school and sporting events of their grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They were as much as a fixture in the stands as were the parents. Their home in Tunkhannock became a retreat for their grandchildren and anyone else who need pampering with good food and a relaxed atmosphere.
Dave is survived by his sons Michael Roosa and his wife Shelli of Danville PA, and Gerald Roosa of Tunkhannock; grandchildren David Roosa and his wife Samantha, Joshua Roosa and his wife Rachael, Michael Roosa, Jeff Roosa and his wife Keshia, Amanda Roosa; great-grandchildren Kaydience, Taylor, Madison, Blayne, Kaylee, Zariah, Junior, and Brantley Roosa. Also surviving are his sisters Jean Vivona and Marilyn Roosa; brothers Robert and Jan Roosa, Richard Roosa; brother and sister-in-law Steve and Judy Boyanowski, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Dave is preceeded in death by his great granddaughter, Keymani Pearl
Dave insisted on a party in lieu of formal services where attendees are to enjoy themselves in the process of remembrances of the times together. The timing of the party will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted with the Sheldon Funeral Homes of Meshoppen, PA.
