David G. "Bassett" Hunsinger passed away while surrounded by his loving family on Friday morning, August 4, 2023 at the Allied Services Hospice Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Born in Meshoppen, PA on October 23, 1960, David was the son of the late Glenn and Joyce Benscoter Hunsinger.  He attended Elk Lake High School where he would graduate with the class of 1978.

David was a self-employed Log Truck Driver for Hunsinger Brothers Logging for many years. When he wasn't on the road, he loved to tinker in his garage, repairing vehicles and equipment, and socializing with friends.  David enjoyed playing softball in various area leagues and was also an avid bowler, regularly participating in the South Montrose Friday Night League and going to tournaments as far away as Reno, NV.  He loved to hunt on the family farm and took many hunting trips to places like Colorado, Texas, and Canada.

Surviving David are his children, Deanna Fauver (Corey Brewer) of Laceyville, PA and Joshua Hunsinger (Sarah) of Meshoppen, PA; his grandchildren, Deagon, Finley, and Everleigh Fauver of Laceyville, PA, Brantley and Braxton Hunsinger of Meshoppen, PA, Savanna Stewart of Meshoppen, PA, Brian Strohl of Meshoppen, PA, and Hailey Bunnell of South Montrose, PA; and his siblings, Bonnie Antoine of Henderson, TN, Chuck Hunsinger (Delores) of Laceyville, PA, and Terry Hunsinger (Carol) of Laceyville, PA.  He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Lois Edwards (Wayne) of Lawton, PA; his brothers and sisters-in law, Thomas Cook of Falls, PA, Jay Cook of Lawton, PA, and Judi Hunt (Rick) of Binghamton, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Tammy Hunsinger (d. April 20, 2022).

A memorial service for David will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623, on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Tim Barnett of New Hope Ministries officiating.  A graveside service at the Beaver Meadows Cemetery will follow the Memorial Service.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 until the time of service.
