IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Charles
Lockwood
August 18, 1950 – September 29, 2023
David Charles Lockwood, 73, of Laceyville, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 29th. He was born August 18, 1950 in Hornell, NY and grew up in the village of Almond, NY in Steuben County.
He is survived by his brother, William Lockwood (Almond, NY), and sister-in-law, Rochelle Lockwood (Henrico, VA) with sons, Jared Lockwood and Matthew Lockwood. Also surviving are his daughter, Amelia Lockwood of Scranton, PA, and her children, Savannah Lockwood (17) and Brandin Gockley (16), as well as his step-son, Dustin (Rachel) Kinney of Coopersburg, PA and his children, Sawyer (8), Harper (6), Nolan (3), and Pierce (3).
His father, Charles Lockwood, and his mother, Marilyn (McMichael) Lockwood preceded him in death, along with his eldest brother, Phillip Lockwood, and his sister-in-law, Dianne Lockwood.
Upon graduating from the Alfred-Almond Central School in 1968, David enlisted in the U.S. Army where we served in the Vietnam War until 1971. He returned home to Steuben County, NY to focus on his passions in life – auto and farm mechanics and dairy farming. In 1983, he moved to Laceyville, PA to expand his dairy farming operation and eventually left farming to be a truck driver and mechanic. In 1996 he built his own garage to start a machine shop and equipment manufacturing business which he operated until his passing.
David was known for restoring classic vehicles, and sometimes travelling across the country to find body types without rust to restore. But he would only work on General Motors vehicles or it would likely result in some expletives. He enjoyed watching NASCAR during the Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt days and later in life playing poker. He was especially fond of his family history and would travel to Almond, NY to participate in various community events that benefitted his hometown historical society.
Cremation services were arranged through Sheldon Funeral Home and a private burial will be arranged with family and close friends at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond, NY at a date to be determined.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Almond Historical Society in Almond, NY.
