Obituary

David Foster Mullican, age 76, of Indian Hill, Tuscarora Twp., Wyalusing, PA, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home, Sunday morning, December 10, 2023, surrounded by his family.

David was born December 20, 1946 in the same home that he passed away in. He was the son of the late Ernest R. Mullican, who passed away in 1995, and the late Elsie N. Brotzman Mullican who passed away in 2000.

Growing up and spending most of his life on Indian Hill, David was a graduate of Wyalusing High School in the class of 1964. He graduated from RETS Electronics School. He worked at IBM in Elmira, NY and Mergenthaler Linotype in Wellsboro, PA.

After moving his family back to Indian Hill, he worked for R.B. Learn, then Dean Bennett and finally Keith Bluhm in their local Furniture and Appliance Store. For many years David was employed as a truck driver with Penns Best, Schneider National Trucking, and FFE.  He achieved recognition from Schneider National Trucking for having driven 1,000,000 accident-free miles.

He enjoyed gardening, walking in the woods and working on his tractors. He loved hunting with family and friends and reloading his ammunition.

David was a member of Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville, PA, where he served in various ways at the church.  He enjoyed working with children in the Baby Nursery and the AWANA program.  His favorite times were spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, the former Marilyn A. Young, whom he married on November 4, 1967.  He is survived by sister Marianne Oakes of Montrose, PA., sister Nancy and her husband Steven Halbleib of Elizabethtown, PA. and sister Norma and her husband Gerry Gleockler of Dushore, PA. He is also survived by son Michael and his wife Deidri Brodhun Mullican of Camptown, PA., son Jerry Mullican of Wyalusing, PA, and daughter Lynn and her husband Donald Evans of Wyalusing, PA. He is survived by grandchildren Elizabeth Mullican, Timothy Mullican and wife Elizabeth Harrell-Mullican, Madeline Mullican, Karlee Evans, Katelyn Evans, great-granddaughter Freyja Dunbar, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, David is predeceased by his great-grandson, Trey Michael Middleton, sister-in-law Elaine Young Johnston, brother-in-law Arthur Pennay, brother-in-law Lyle Oakes, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer R. Young and Cleora B. Jelliff Young.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Braintrim Baptist Church, 283 Church St., Laceyville, PA at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Joseph Kilmer of the Braintrim Baptist Church, and Rev. Richard Vieldhouse a long-time family friend officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David's name to Hunts for Healing Foundation, 1479 Coburn Hill Rd., Laceyville, PA 18623, Grace Christian Academy, 100 Robert Gabriel Dr., Ulster, PA, 18850, or Braintrim Baptist Church, 283 Church St., Laceyville, PA 18623.
