Sands

Dean Carpenter Sands of Meshoppen PA. passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, at the Gracious Living Estates in South Montrose PA. Dean was born in Mehoopany, PA on October 8, 1935, and was the son of the late Floyd Bardwell Sands and Pearl Amelia Wildrick Sands.
Growing up in Meshoppen for majority of his life Dean would graduate from the Meshoppen High School with the class of 1954. Right after high school Dean would enlist into the United States Navy and serve until 1962. He would often talk about his time in Cuba, Japan, and the many other countries he got to travel to during his service. While also in the Navy he would marry the late Dorothy Jean Sands on July 12, 1958.
After his time in the Navy Dean and Dorothy would make Wind Gap PA, their home and raised their three children. Dean would take up Truck Driving and would love to travel to all over the United States, except for the state of California. After his time on the road Dean and Dorothy moved back to Meshoppen in the 1980's. After the move Dean chose to finish off his career at Proctor and Gamble Mehoopany as tech 4-line technician retiring in 2000.
After retiring Dean would go on to cherish his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dean was also a lifelong Member of the Meshoppen United Methodist Church, as well as a lifelong member of the NRA. Dean loved hunting, fishing, gardening and lawn care. He loved to spend hours hand picking dandelions and rocks. On Sundays after church, you could find him watching NASCAR cheering on Jeff Gordon. You could also find Dean tuning into the Philadelphia Eagles games from time to time. Yet what Dean loved the most was his time he spent with Dorothy. He would love to take her out to dinner and stop at the occasional yard sale.
