Donald H. Adams, age 93, of Meshoppen, PA, passed away early Sunday morning, September 10, 2017 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, PA

Donald was born on July 1, 1924 in Black Walnut, PA the son of the late John Milton and Mary Sheffler Adams. On September 14, 1946 he married the former Margaret A. Fletcher and they were married for 50 years until her passing on December 28, 1996. Donald proudly served his country with the United States Army, as a Military Policeman, with the 309th. Infantry, during World War II from 1943 until his discharge in 1946. After his military career he worked for Montrose Hanger Plant for over 20 years and then worked at Proctor and Gamble for 18 years until his retirement in 1987. Donald enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and mowing his lawn. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved country bluegrass music and traveling, with his son, to many musical festivals. Throughout his years, Mr. Adams enjoyed the time that he spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren, and most recently with his great-grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his children Donna Saravitz of Montrose, PA; Shirleen Adams (Bob Klach) of Springville, PA; and Rick Adams of Meshoppen, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrea Alexander and her husband Sterling of Raleigh, NC; Kimberly Bucciarelli and her husband Vinnie of Dalton, PA; Andrew Saravitz of Montrose, PA; Kristy Saravitz of Long Island, NY; great-grandchildren Cash and Scout Alexander and Vada Bucciarelli as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Andy Saravitz (September 11, 2000) as well as brothers Bill Adams; Walter Adams; Rolland Adams; George Adams; Charlie Adams; Raymond Adams; sisters Sarah Granger; Hannah Tennant; Helen Balback; Jane Calhoun; Agnes Adams; and Dorothy Bennett.

Funeral services for Donald will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Sheldon Funeral Homes, SR 6 Main Street, Meshoppen, PA with Reverend Gary Myers of Meshoppen Biblical Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Jersey Hill Cemetery. A Military Honors graveside service will be conducted by the members of the Rought Hall American Legion Post # 510, Dennis Strong American Legion Post #457, and the Endless Mountains VFW Post #3583. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, September 13, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
