Donald James Hampsey, age 77, of Storey Lake, PA passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in Laceyville, PA.

Donald was born in Meshoppen, Pennsylvania on May 30, 1945, the son of the late Arthur Paul Hampsey Jr. and Evelyn Staights Hampsey.  Growing up on Doolittle Hill, Donald developed his lifelong love of hunting, fishing, and playing sports.  He attended Elk Lake High School and graduated with the class of 1963.

Donald was retired from Osram Sylvania in Towanda, PA where he worked as the head of shipping and receiving until his retirement in 2001. Outside of work, Donald pursued his passion for the outdoors through hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed cheering on his favorite football and basketball teams.  Most of all, Donald cherished being surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving Donald are his daughters, Paula S. Hampsey and Karen M. Hampsey Gruver both of Laceyville; his grandchildren, Samantha Bonavita, Haylee Gruver, April Hartshaw, and Megan Hartshaw; his great-grandchildren Cheyenne Jenner, Carter Capwell, Gunner Bonavita, Bow Bonavita, Abel Bonavita, Asher Brink and Everett Bennett.  He is also survived by his brother, Robert Hampsey (Elaine) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Hampsey Nesslein; his brother, Ronald "Art" Hampsey, Sr.; his sister, Naomi O'Sullivan; and his grandson, Zachary (Zac) Hartshaw.

A visitation for Donald will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM for friends and family.  A graveside service at the Lacey Street Cemetery will immediately follow the visitation and be officiated by Reverend Ron Folk of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions for Donald's final expenses may be sent to Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623.
