Donald H. Moody, Jr., age 90, of Sugar Run, PA, passed away Thursday evening, February 23, 2017 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Towanda Memorial Hospital, Towanda, PA.
Donald was born on November 9, 1926 in Evergreen, PA the son of the late Donald H. Sr. and Melissa Belle Lyons Moody. He graduated from Wyalusing Valley High School with the class of 1944. After graduation Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Donald was stationed in the South Pacific Theatre during wartime. On December 30, 1947 he married the former Marie Tuttle. The couple was married for 54 years until her passing in 2002. Donald worked as a millwright at Proctor and Gamble for 20 years.
Donald was a member of the Hollenback United Methodist Church and the Wyalusing Post #534 American Legion. He was an avid golfer who played in the P&G Golf League. Donald was also a sports enthusiast; his favorite baseball team was the Kansas City Royals. He loved to follow his grandkids in their sporting events. Donald was fond of traveling especially to the New England states and out West. He loved riding in his 1995 Ford Mustang convertible and could be seen tooling around the countryside with the top down. But most of all Donald loved spending time with and being around his family.
Donald is survived by his children Mark Moody and his wife Bonnie Jo of Waverly, NY; Joanne Russo of Kansas City, MO; Scott Moody and his wife Patty of Jay, OK; Janis Proski and her husband Michael of Plymouth, PA; Dede Simpson and her husband David of Ashley, PA; 12 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. Donald is also survived by his sister Roberta Sage and her husband Lyall of Oneonta, NY; many nieces and nephews; and special caretakers Chey Learn and Roberta Whyte. Besides his wife and parents Donald was preceded in death by his son Terry Moody (2013); infant daughter Carol Moody; sister Joan Landmisser; and brother Arthur Moody.
Funeral services for Donald will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Hollenback United Methodist Church with Reverend Heather Baker-McAllister of the church officiating. Interment will follow at the Wyalusing Borough Cemetery. A graveside military service will be conducted by the Wyalusing Post #534 American Legion. Family and friends may call at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
