Doris H. Walter passed away into the loving arms of her Savior on Sunday, May 22 ^nd , 2022.

Doris was born on September 17 ^th , 1932, in New Lexington, PA to Ross and Elizabeth (Baker) Saylor.

Doris is predeceased by both her parents, a sister, Janet Sanner, and a son-in-law, David Pitcher.

Doris is survived (and will be greatly missed) by her loving husband of over 70 years, Rev. James A. Walter, Sr. of Wyalusing, PA; her son, James A. (Shelly) Walter Jr. of Dallas, GA and daughter, Denise E. Pitcher, of Little Meadows, PA her grandchildren, Hannah Lukovich, Carrie Cunningham, Mattie Harris and Samuel Pitcher; and 2 great grandchildren, Charlotte Cunningham and Nicholas Pitcher. She is also survived by her brother Glen C. (Thelma) Saylor of Cortland, OH and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doris was a longtime member of South Apalachin Baptist Church, where her husband was the minister for over 36 years. She loved to play the organ, do word search puzzles, watch and feed birds, knit, crochet and travel – with a once in a lifetime trip to Israel, trip to Alaska and many trips out west.  She also loved to spend time in Florida, which she did up to a few years ago.

The family would like to thank the Hospice staff from Guthrie Hospice as well as the staff at the Wyalusing Valley Personal Care Home for the loving care they provided to Doris.

A Memorial Service will be held at South Apalachin Baptist Church, 4116 Pennsylvania Ave., Apalachin, NY 13732 on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at a 11:00 am with Pastor Dan Crane officiating.
