Dorothy Ann Edsell Bomboy Benjamin, age 74, of Wysox, PA passed away Wednesday morning, September 24, 2014 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital in Towanda, PA.
Dorothy was born in Sayre, PA on May 28, 1940 the daughter of the late George D. (May 4, 1999) and Mary Borden Edsell (August 6, 1998). She was a graduate of the Wyalusing High School with the class of 1959.
Dorothy worked for the EJ Shoe Factory in Johnson City, NY for many years. After working in the manufacturing industry for some time she moved on to the restaurant industry. She worked at many local restaurants in the Wysox area throughout the years but worked at the B&D Diner in Wysox for the majority of those years.
Dorothy was married to the late Harry C. Benjamin who passed away September 29, 2000 after they were together for over 20 years. She was a family woman who loved to spend time with her large family and extended family especially at picnics. Her grand-dog Willie was a favorite of hers and she loved him very much. She was a member of the Towanda Gun Club, the AMVets Post in Asylum Township, and a lifetime member of the Monroeton Gun Club.
Surviving is her son David D. Bomboy of Wysox, PA; five stepchildren; five sisters Betty (Donald) Roof of Wysox, PA; Marie (Skip) Wilbur of Browntown, PA; Mary Lou (Dick) Parks of New Era, PA; Helen (Carl Green) Fries of Wysox, PA; and Peggy (Steve Canfield) Chilson of New Albany, PA. Also surviving are her special friends Carol Putnam of Wysox, PA and Sandy Chamberlin of Towanda, PA. Several nieces, nephews, and friends are surviving as well. Besides her husband and parents he is preceded in death by her brothers in law Harry Fries and Jeff Chilson and her nephew Adam Chilson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church Street, Wyalusing, PA with Reverend Robert Martin of the Standing Stone Community Vesper Church in officiating. Interment will be following the service at the Wysox Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
