Dorothy Jean Sands (May 3,1936) of Meshoppen, PA is finally at peace from her battle with cancer on February 2, 2022 . She was born to Mary and Hartley Pennay. She graduated in 1954 from Laceyville High School. On July 12, 1958 she married the love of her life Dean Sands. She was a homemaker for many years to care for their children. After her children grew she had numerous occupations in the sewing industry. Dorothy also had talents in jewelry repair where her love of baubles shined.

Dorothy was loved by many. Not everyone knew her as Dorothy, she had various names all her loved ones knew her by. Some of them were Ma, Aunt Jean, Grandma, Nana, and just simply Jean.  Of all the people who loved Dorothy, it would be her husband of 64 years who loved her the most. Dorothy was dedicated to helping everyone she loved in any way possible.

She is survived by her husband Dean Sands. Her twin sister and best friend Irene Shiffer. Her children Curtis Sands, Connie Wilkinson, and Gary Sands Sr. Her grandchildren Gary Sands Jr, Josh Tyler and April Tyler (Ian). Her great grandchildren Lealah, Kylee, Emmalee, and Melanie Maginley. A very special niece Joanne Vanvolkinburg. Also along with other numerous special nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Mary and Hartley Pennay. Along with her siblings Marie Thingelstad, Alice Sherwood, Robert Pennay, Artie Pennay, Donald Pennay and Charlie Pennay.

Services will be held in May at Meshoppen United Methodist Church with a date to be determined.
