Obit for Dorothy Jane Scott (77)
Dorothy Jane Scott, age 77, of 876 SR 3005, Meshoppen, PA (South Auburn) passed away Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2012 at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, PA.
She was born on September 27, 1935 the daughter of the late Jess Lee and Addie Pearl Campbell Wolfe in Rogersville, TN.
Dorothy graduated from the Bulls Gap High School in Bulls Gap, TN and after high school attended business school in Kingsport, TN.
Dorothy was a secretary for many companies in Rogersville, TN before retiring in 1979. After retirement her and her second husband George Young Scott, Jr. (married September 27, 1979) moved to the South Auburn area where they became very active in the community.
She was a member of the South Auburn United Methodist Church as well as an active member of the Women Missions Union of the Church. She was also a member of the South Auburn Grange #1188. She enjoyed making "Ugly Quilts" and "Sleeping Bags" for the homeless.
Surviving is her husband of 33 years, George Young Scott, Jr.; children William "Bill" O. Nickels (Amy) of Manchester, TN, Terry L. Nickels (Sharon) of Rogersville, TN, and Dottie Jeffers (Gary) of Limestone, TN; her step-children George Young Scott, III of North Plainfield, NJ, Robert Allen Scott of North Plainfield, NJ, Douglas Bruce Scott (Peggy) of San Antonio, TX, Geoffrey Mark Scott (Gloria) of San Antonia, TX, Christopher James Scott of Houston, TX, Jonathan Carl Scott (Faith) of Mobile, AL, and Maribeth Magaret Teel (John) of Tunkhannock, PA; grandchildren William O. Nickles, Jr, Anna Grace Nickels, and Cooper Lee Nickels all of Manchester, TN and Samuel Owen Nickels and Isaac James Nickels both of Rogersville, TN; 23 step-grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren; brother Charles Wolfe (June) of Rogersville, TN; sisters Geraldine West (James) of Rogersville, TN and Zelma Sue Craighead of Irwin, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Owen E. Nickels (April 3, 1964), brothers Robert J. Wolfe, Eural Lee Wolfe, and Wayne Wolfe and sisters Evelyn Wolfe, Joyce Ann Wolfe, Ruth Wolfe, Viola Wolfe, Lola Wolfe, and Ruby Wolfe Clark.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the South Auburn United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat Newhart of the Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the Church Friday, January 4, 2013 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
