Dorothy A. Teetsel, age 76, of Meshoppen, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Scranton CMC Hospital.
Dorothy was born on December 14, 1940 in Wilkes-Barre, PA the daughter of the late Rudolph "Jake" R. (d. July 2013) and Mildred Fassett Lasher (d. April 2009). She was a graduate of Elk Lake High School with the class of 1960.
She married the late James P. Teetsel, Sr. on August 25, 1962. They were married for 49 years before his passing on January 12, 2012. Together they had two children. Dorothy was a housewife and homemaker for her family for a majority of her life, but she was also employed for a short time at the Dress Factory in Meshoppen, PA. She also enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren that she loved very much.
Every spring Dorothy looked forward to planting her garden and she loved canning her vegetables in the late summer. She enjoyed playing solitaire and crossword puzzles. While living at the Gardens at Tunkhannock (formerly Golden Living Center) for the last five years she looked forward to playing BINGO. Most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Debora Cudworth and her husband Robert, Jr. of Moosic, PA; her son James P. Teetsel, Jr. and his wife Catherine of Meshoppen, PA; her grandchildren Christy L. Cudworth and Diana L. Cudworth both of Moosic, PA ; David J. Teetsel and Carolyn T. Teetsel both of Meshoppen, PA and; her sisters and spouses Sandy and Robert Garey of Mill City, PA, Beulah and Nelson Clayton of Meshoppen, PA, Helen and William Rought of Falls, PA, and Patricia and Charlie Michalowski of Lake Winola, PA; her brother and spouse Raymond and Patricia Lasher of Montrose, PA; her brother-in-law Hallock Kissel of Durrell, PA; sister-in-law Kathy Teetsel of Noxen, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her grandson Adam Phillip Teetsel in March, 1992.
It was Dorothy's wishes to not have any services at this time. There will be a private graveside service at the Jersey Hill Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.
