Edward Charles Smurkowski, age 64, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at his Wyoming County home.

He was born in Meshoppen, PA on August 15, 1953, son of the late Edward J. Smurkowski (d. October 20, 2008) and Irene (Marcy) Smurkowski (d. January 9, 2011)

A graduate of Elk Lake High School with the class of 1971, he was an integral part of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help (St. Joachim) Catholic Church his entire life, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Holy Name Society, and representing the parish at the annual Men's Conference.

Ed worked in a number of industries throughout his life, including Procter and Gamble Mehoopany, Mt Airy Lodge Mt Pocono, and retiring from the P&G Contract Warehouse in Meshoppen.

He is survived by a daughter, Marcy Singleton and her partner Theodore Peterson, Gouldsboro. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Ashante Robinson (Dylan Walsh), Scranton; and Eugene Robinson, Scranton; and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Alina Walsh of Scranton. Also surviving are three brothers, Steve (Debbie) Smurkowski; Jack (Beth) Smurkowski; and Scott Smurkowski, all of Meshoppen, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his niece, Carrie Sue Smurkowski on July 2, 2014.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 A.M. from the St. Joachim's Roman Catholic Church, Meshoppen. Interment will be in the St. Joachim's Cemetery, Meshoppen. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday April 3, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 P.M, with the rosary to be recited at 8:00 P.M.
