Elizabeth Jane Carter, R.N., age 50, of Wilkes-Barre, PA (formerly of Wyalusing, PA) went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 10, 2015 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on June 5, 1965 in Wilkes-Barre, PA the daughter of the late Wesley Allen Garinger, Sr. and Eileen May Garinger of Sugar Run, PA.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School with the class of 1984. She earned her degree as a R.N. from Luzerne County Community College. Throughout her career she was employed as a R.N. with United Methodist Homes in the Wesley Village Campus in Jenkins twp., Tyler Memorial Hospital, Memorial Hospital in Towanda, and Robert Packer Hospital, Carpenter Care (now Golden Living), and as a home health nurse.
She was a member of Valley Cites Baptist Church. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and attending flower shows. She adored her two dogs. Her passion and love for taking care of people was unmatched. Most importantly, her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Elizabeth is survived by her mother Eileen May Garinger; children Brandon Joseph Carter and wife Amber of Plains and Lindsey Sue Carter of Plains; loving grandchildren Ashley, Emily, Alexa, and Brandon Carter all of Plains; faithful loving dogs Rocky and Carter; her siblings and spouses Wesley Allen Garinger, Jr. (Dawn) of Hunlock Creek, Lawerance Edward Garinger (Debbie) of Mountain Top, Bonnie Jean Wilson (Dave) of Rome, Doris Eileen Walczak (Tony) of Wyalusing, Nancy Lee Orischak (Joseph) of Franklindale, Kenneth James Garinger (Lisa) of Hunlock Creek, Linda Joy Furman (Zane) of Camptown, Stephen Andrew Garinger, Sr. (Linda) of New Albany, Daniel John Garinger of New Albany, Ruth Ann Oliver of Meshoppen, David Jonathan Garinger (Debbie) of Sugar Run, and Joan Louise Grover (Ben) of New Albany; as well as several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 12:00 noon from the Moxie Community Church Reverend Michael MacWhinnie of the church officiating. Family and friends may gather on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
