Elizabeth "Betsy" M. Tanner, age 73, of 355 Shore Dr., Tunkhannock, PA passed away on Saturday afternoon, August 4, 2012 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA after an unexpected illness.
Betsy was born on July 31, 1939 the daughter of the late Louis and Josephine Morabito Verna. She was a graduate of the Little Flower High School in Philadelphia, class of 1957.
Betsy was a homemaker and loved to provide for her husband, Ron, to whom she became married on October 23, 1965, and her three children. She enjoyed helping out at the Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen in Tunkhannock and the Lake Carey Fire Company. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and was a devoted wife.
Betsy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ronald Tanner; her children Frank Tanner of Dublin, PA, Donalee T. Posey and her husband Darrell of Montrose, PA, and Christopher R. Tanner of Springtown, PA; her grandchildren Corey C. Benscoter and Cassie E. Benscoter of Tunkhannock and Lacey H. Posey, Kellsie J. Posey, and Ian Posey of Montrose; great granddaughter Annabel Lee Robinson of West Chester, PA; brother Louis Verna of Carlisle, PA; brother-in-law Robert Tanner and his wife Kathy of Kissimmee, FL; and nieces and nephews Kimberly Verna of Philadelphia, Bobby Tanner and his wife Toby of San Diego, CA, Samantha Tanner of Kissimmee and Stephen Tanner of Kissimmee. She was preceded in death by her grandson Casey J. Benscoter and niece Michelle Verna.
Per the request of Betsy there will be a private memorial service held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
