Ellen E. Day, age 77, of Mehoopany, PA (formerly of Tunkhannock, Meshoppen, and Ithaca, NY), passed away Tuesday evening, November 24, 2015 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was born on June 26, 1938 in Dallas, PA the daughter of the late Seth (passed away January 7, 2005) and Eliza Jenner Overfield (passed away January 14, 2005). She graduated from Rush High School with the class of 1956.

Ellen was employed as a Manager at the Groton, NY Housing Authority before retiring in 2000.

She played county music with the bands Tradewinds and County Cousins in and near Ithaca, NY and with the Rollie Jenner Band around Lawton, PA. She took great pride in her home especially her magnificent flower beds.

Ellen is survived by her children Julie Cornell (Scott Babcock) of Candor, NY, Bill Cornell of Dryden, NY, and Tim Cornell of Noxen, PA; her grandchildren Matt Cornell, Tiffany Cornell-Harding, and Kristen Cornell; her great-grandchildren Bryce, Alex, and Maddy; her sisters Audrey Roosa (Dave) of Tunkhannock, PA and Judy Boyanowksi (Steve) of Mehoopany, PA; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends.

Ellen's family would love to have all of her extended family and friends join them for A Celebration of Ellen's Life, on Saturday afternoon December 5, 2015, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Rought Hall Post # 510 American Legion, in Black Walnut between Laceyville and Meshoppen.

Arrangements were entrusted with Sheldon Funeral Homes, SR6, Meshoppen, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the donors' local Ambulance or Fire Company.
