Obituary

Emery Frank Thorn, Sr. of Laceyville, PA passed away on Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025, at the Sayre Rehabilitation Center in Sayre, PA.

He was born on June 30, 1936, son of the late Frank and Florence Avery Thorn. Growing up in Ararat, Susquehanna County, Emery attended and graduated from the Thompson school in Thompson, PA.

After high school, Emery joined the Marines and was in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 3 years and was also in the Ready Reserves for another 5 years. After not being drafted, he was discharged in 1962.

Emery worked for many years for Universal Instruments Corporation in Binghamton, NY, where he would order and buy tools needed by the company. He retired in 1990 just before marrying the love of his life, Andrea Lamb Thorn. He and “Andi” resided in Laceyville and were married for 35 years, all of which Emery deeply enjoyed eating the delicious baked goods that Andi would make.

When not working, Emery could often be found playing bass guitar for his band, The Country Troubadours. He was very fond of all the years spent playing music with his friends. Emery was also a Lifetime Member of the Montrose American Legion Post 154. He also served as the Windham Township Supervisory several years. He enjoyed helping his very good friends, Jim and Evelyn Cruver, who owned Cruver’s Trailer Park, checking well houses and doing odd jobs for them. Emery also spent a lot of time in his workshop, fixing and building things with his sons, Emery Thorn, Jr. and Anthony “Tony” Lamb. He loved computer games and played “Farm Town” with Andi daily. He was a great storyteller, using his sharp memory to recall dates and events from his life.

Surviving Emery are his wife, Andrea Lamb Thorn of Laceyville, PA; his son, Anthony “Tony” Lamb (Danielle) of Stowell, PA; and his granddaughters, Olivia and Sadie Lamb of Stowell, PA.

Along with his parents, Emery is preceded in death by his sons, Kevin and Emery Thorn, Jr.; his granddaughters, Rhonda Thorn and Christina Thorn; and his great-granddaughter, Brianna Barnes.

As per Emery’s request, there will be no services at this time.
