Eric T. Hercenberg, age 56, of Iron Bridge Road, New Albany, PA (New Era) passed away Thursday afternoon, February 26, 2015 resulting from injuries sustained from a car accident that occurred near Spring Lake, PA.

Eric was born on August 23, 1958 the son of late Dmitry R. Jr. who passed away on February 13, 2011 and Claire A. Cayer Hercenberg, of New Albany, PA. He attended the New Era United Methodist Church. Eric was a past President of the Wyalusing Valley Volunteer Fire Department. In 1997 Eric was named the Celebration Helper of the Year and in 1998 he was named the Outstanding Firefighter of the Year. Eric also served as the Captain of the Wyalusing Valley Volunteer Fire Department Fire Police. Eric was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish with his father and brother. He also enjoyed tuna fishing with Captain Dave Eaton on the Intruder, a chartered boat in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, out of Yarmouthport. Eric was also an avid antique bottle collector.

Besides his mother Eric is survived by his brother Timothy and his wife Theresa Hercenberg of New Albany, PA; sister Sherry Windoloski of Mildred, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father Eric is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Dmitry Sr. and Theresa K. Hercenberg and maternal grandparents Joseph and Donalda Cayer.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with Sheldon Funeral Homes, 459 Main Street, Laceyville, PA. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at the New Era Cemetery.
