Obituary

Ethel Mae "Muzzy" Ruhf, age 87, of Lawton, Pennsylvania passed away Saturday evening, May 25, 2019, at the Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, PA.

Ethel was born on March 20, 1932, in Rushville, PA the daughter of the late Earl and Frances Goodwin Baldwin. She was a graduate of the Rushville High School.

Mae was a Housewife and Homemaker for her late husband, J. Stewart Ruhf, whom she married on January 28, 1950 and their seven children.  She was also employed at the Hayloft, as a cook, at Boyce LaRue's Store, Mulligan's Printing, and as the Post Master in Lawton out of her home,

She was a member of the Rushville Presbyterian Church, the Rush Ladies Auxiliary, and an honorary member of Stanley's Hunting Camp. She enjoyed playing BINGO, playing cards, going to the casino and watching humming birds. She treasured the times she spent with her sons' cattle business, Ruhf's Livestock, serving as the secretary and navigator.  She gained the skill of apron making and made countless fun gifts for her family and friends. Most of all she loved the time she spent with all of her family, especially when they were all together at the various parties throughout the year.

Muzzy is survived by her sons, Gerald "Sike" Ruhf, of Laceyville, Terry "Pork" Ruhf (Laura Weaver) of Montrose, PA, Paul "Gator" Ruhf (Jean) of Tunkhannock, PA , Brett Ruhf (Karen Smith) of Camptown, PA, Bradley "Goat" Ruhf (Heather Whitney) of Fulton, NY; her daughters, Janet Ruhf of Laceyville, PA and Judy Stanley (Vic) of Montrose, PA; 14 grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; her special niece, Fran Lutz; as well as many other nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, J. Stewart Ruhf (d. March 20, 1999), her daughters-in-law, Benja Sheldon Ruhf (d. March 5, 2005), Vicki Zaner Ruhf (d. August 11, 2017), her grandson, Justin "Wildcat" Ruhf (d. November 21, 2018) and her siblings, Eva Wilbur, Kathryn Wells Douglas, Jean Downer, James Baldwin, Paul Baldwin, Horace Baldwin, and Pauline McGovern.


Funeral Services for Mae will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA with Rev. Sharon Rockefeller of the Rushville Presbyterian Church officiating.  Interment will follow at the Rushville Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mae's name to the Rushville Presbyterian Church, 10 Gage Road, Lawton, PA 18828.

The family would like to give special thanks to all of Mae's caregivers, Shanna Woodruff, Denise Kirk, Tanya Brown and especially her niece, Kathy Baldwin Pederson.
