Eugene E. Inman, age 83, of Meshoppen, PA, passed away surrounded by his family, on Saturday afternoon, November 17, 2018 at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Eugene was born on September 9, 1935 in Sayre, PA the adopted son of the late Raymond Inman and Alice McManus Inman. Eugene attended both Laceyville and Wyalusing Valley High Schools. After high school, Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received many merits and awards during that war. He served 22 years in the United States Army. Eugene retired from the National Security Agency (NSA) as a linguist after 15 years of work. On July 12, 1958 he married the former Joan Ladner, and the couple was together for 52 years until her passing on May 14, 2011. Eugene loved to collect coins and loved playing PA lottery tickets. He also loved to tend to his garden, especially his roses. Eugene loved his family very much and will be deeply missed by many.

Eugene is survived by his sons, John Inman and his wife Maria of Hanover, MD; Charles Inman of Merrit Island, FL; daughters Jeannie Brent and her husband James of Meshoppen, PA; Joanne Prebula and her husband Brad of Shady Side, MD; Diane Hall and her husband Robert of Laurel, MD; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Animal. Also surviving are Eugene's sisters Pauline Brekke; Lucy Hamilton; and Mary Novotny; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his son David Inman, who passed away on March 4, 2013.

Funeral services for Eugene will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 SR 6 (Main Street) Meshoppen, PA with his niece Terry Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Overfield Cemetery. Military Services will be conducted by the members of the Rought Hall Post 510 American Legion from Black Walnut, PA, the Dennis Strong Post 457 American Legion from Tunkhannock, PA, and the Endless Mountains Post 3583 V.F.W from Mehoopany, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
