Evelyn Repsher Cruver, age 81, of Laceyville, PA passed away early Thursday morning, September 25, 2014 at her home on North Flat, Windham Township, Wyoming County surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born on August 22, 1933 the daughter of the late Carlton (Dutch) (November 1, 1989) and Agnes Filan (April 3, 1994) Repsher Sr. She was a graduate of the Laceyville High School Class of 1952 where she played on the high school's basketball team and was the defender of her brothers in the hallways and on the playgrounds. After graduation she worked at Bendix Corporation in South Montrose, PA until getting married.
She married James D. Cruver on May 19, 1956 and they celebrated 54 years of marriage before he passed away on May 23, 2010. She was a housewife and homemaker all of her married life. She worked hand and hand with Jim from 1968 until their retirement in 1974. Together they owned and operated Cruver Dozer Service as well as a stone quarry in the Laceyville area. During the same time the two of them built Cruver Mobile Home Park in Laceyville, PA and their family has operated the park from the late 1960's to present time. The residents of the mobile home park were always considered to be part of their extended family.
Evelyn was a member of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, Rought Hall Post #510 American Legion Auxiliary as well as the Meshoppen Chapter #70 Eastern Star where she was a past Worthy Matron in 1965. She served as a Wyoming County Republican Committeewoman for over 40 years and also served on its executive board. She liked to spend her time gardening, landscaping and mowing. Inside and outside home care was another hobby of Evelyn's.
Surviving is her son Matthew Cruver (fiancée Beth Ramey) of Laceyville, PA; and daughter Jamie (Kevin) Klesh of Horseheads, NY. Also surviving are her grandchildren Mark Cruver (Ashley Rice) of East Stroudsburg, PA; Luke Cruver of Tunkhannock, PA; Ava Klesh of Horseheads, NY; Isaac Klesh of Horseheads, NY; sister Joanne "Jody" (Jim) Sands of Laceyville, PA; brothers Carlton "Cocky" (Rose) Repsher Jr. of Wyalusing, PA; and Kenneth Repsher (Jeanette Luce) of Harding, PA. Special sister in law Charlene Repsher of Laceyville, PA as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins are surviving. Evelyn also thought the world of her caregivers of the last year whom were Jenny Newhart of Laceyville, PA; Rachel Manning of Laceyville, PA; and Ellen Nitcznski of Forkston, PA.
Besides her husband and parents Evelyn is preceded in death by her son Mark Carlton Cruver who was born in November 1957, and shortly thereafter contracted and suffered from Bulbar Polio, being a young mother, Evelyn diligently cared for Mark until his death on January 2, 1972; sister Shirley Gray (January 3, 2000); brother Keith Repsher (May 31, 2010); father in law Hartley Cruver (1966); stepmother in law Mildred Cruver (January 10, 1997); brother in law Larry Gray (January 17, 1993); brother in law Zane Cruver (1948); sister in law Betty Davis (1994); sister in law Helen Williams (2006); brother in law Wayne Cruver (2006); special aunt and uncle Lloyd and Myrtle Cruver.
Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Tuesday afternoon, September 30, 2014 at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main Street, Laceyville, PA at 2:00 PM with Reverend Jeffrey Wilkinson of Guthrie Hospice officiating. Interment will be at the Lacey Street Cemetery following the service. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening, September 29, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM with an Eastern Star Service at 8:00 PM conducted by the members of the Meshoppen Chapter #70 Eastern Star.
