Obituary

Floyd William Furman, age 83, of 849 Peet Hill Rd, Laceyville, PA passed away on Saturday morning, September 13, 2014 at home surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Floyd was born in Laceyville, PA on June 3, 1931 the son of the late Foster (July 14, 1981) and Josephine Bronson Furman (August 8, 1984). He was a graduate of the Laceyville High School with the class of 1949. After high school Floyd proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

Floyd married the former Margaret Stone on June 13, 1959 and together they owned and operated Endless Mountains Farms on Peet Hill. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He loved his time he spent with his family, especially his great-granddaughter, Gabby.

He was a member of the Rought Hall Post #510 American Legion in Black Walnut, PA, a past member of the La Societe Des 40 Hommes Et 8 Chevaux of Bradford, Sullivan, and Wyoming Counties, and a lifetime member of the Endless Mountains V.F.W. Post #3583 in Mehoopany, PA. Throughout the years of his memberships Floyd held many offices.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 55 years Margaret Stone Furman; his children Wyatt Furman (Brenda Gilliard) of Laceyville, PA and Cheryl "Sukie" Ann Furman (Jim Sprague) of Laceyville, PA; his grandchildren Matrisha "Trish" Furman, Wyatt "Buddy" Furman, Jr., Cody Sprague, Laurin Gilliard, and Dillon Cook; his great-grandchildren Gabby Furman, Eli Cook, and Madi Cook; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Alan Furman (September 8, 1994) and sister, Ruth Furman Prevost (August 31, 1992).

A private service will be held at the convenience of his family. Interment will be in the Furman Family Cemetery on the Furman's Endless Mountains Farm on Peet Hill. Graveside Military Services will be conducted by the members of the Rought Hall Post #510 American Legion, the Dennis Strong Post #457 American Legion, and the Endless Mountains V.F.W. Post #3583.
