Floyd Heim, age 96, of New Albany passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at home.
Floyd married Beverly Bennett on October 10, 1953 and together they raised a son and a daughter. He was very close to his grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Wyalusing High School with the class of 1948.
He was employed on a farm in Lake Louise for several years. He was employed for 30 years as a tropical fish caretaker for Ken Rice Pet Supply in Dallas, PA. When Floyd and Beverly retired, they moved to the farm which they bought soon after they were married.
In retirement, he enjoyed farming and being outdoors. At 96 he still had several beef cattle, gathered his own firewood, and made his own hay with the help of his family.
Floyd is survived by his children, Dennis Heim and wife, Aimee of Jamison, PA, and Barbara Tessier and husband, Brant of New Albany; grandchildren, Ian Heim of Disputanta, VA, Allison Speier and husband, David of Disputanta, VA, Bailey Tessier of New Albany, and Bradley Tessier of New Albany; great-granddaughter, Aimee Speier of Disputanta, VA; siblings, Mary Jane Heim of New Albany, Verna Smith of Delta, PA and Arlene Wertman of Orwigsburg, PA, and sisters-in-law, Ida Bennett of New Albany, Joyce Bennett of Endicott, NY, and Cynthia Hunt of Washington, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his feline companion, Karla.
Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, as well as his sister, Mae Mairose (Walter) of New Ringold, PA, brother, Jack Weston (Shirley) of Summit Hill, PA , brothers-in-law, Melvin Bennett of Cleveland, OH, Kenneth Bennett of Washington, NJ, Arthur Bennett of Endicott, NY, William Bennett (Elaine) of Nichols, NY, Clifford Bennett of New Albany, and John Huffman of New Albany.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. from the Hollenback United Methodist Church, 3121 Tubach Pond Rd, Sugar Run, PA 18846, with Rev. Helen Learn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Floyd's name by check to Hollenback UMC, PO Box 292, Wyalusing, PA 18853.
