Obituary

Frank Harvey Simko, age 77, a beloved member of his Wyalusing community and cherished family man, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Highlands Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Laporte, PA where he had been residing for the last 2+ years. Born on May 25, 1948, in Rahway, NJ. Frank lived a life dedicated to service, duty, and the love of nature.

Throughout his career, Frank made significant contributions as a Deputy with the Pennsylvania Game Commission for over 10 years. He was employed with Cargill for 20 years and also worked at Honchell's Market. Before he moved to Wyalusing, he was the President and 2nd Lieutenant with the Parsippany Troy-Hills Fire Department in New Jersey. He was deeply involved in his community, holding several key positions including Chief and President of the Wilmot Fire Company, and Captain of the Fire Police with the Wyalusing Valley Volunteer Fire Department. His commitment to public service also led him to work with the Bear Check Station in Wysox.

Frank was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. His experiences instilled in him a deep sense of honor and responsibility, which he carried into the many roles he embraced throughout his life.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wyalusing, PA, Frank's warmth and approachability were hallmarks of his personality. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with others, often striking up conversations with anyone he met. He had a tendency to play his music so loud while driving that everyone could hear him coming. Frank shared his love for the great outdoors with others, enjoying moments spent hunting and fishing. He also took great joy in giving tours at Sunfish Pond, showcasing the natural beauty he cherished.

Frank leaves behind a loving family that includes his children: Frank Simko of Harding, PA, Jennifer Simko Larsen, and Laura Gardner (Bret) of Wellsville, NY. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren who will carry on his legacy. His sister, Marie Carol Schiable (Pete) of New Jersey, along with brother/sister-in-law George and Joanne Timer.

Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Ann Timer Simko, whom he married on February 16, 1980, and who passed away on February 23, 2016. He was also predeceased by his parents, Frank and Armeta Jane Messeroll Simko; his father and mother-in-law, George F. and Katherine Timer; his brother and wife, Fred and Debbie Simko; and his brother/sister-in-law, John and Anne Timer.

A Celebration of Life will be held from Frank on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church Street, Wyalusing, PA.
