Freda Ball Tokach, 86, of Laceyville, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022 in her home with family and friends at her side.
Freda was born in East Lemon on July 19, 1935 to the late Frank and Anna (Yurksza) Ball. On September 10, 1960, she married Michael Tokach and the couple was married for 41 years until his passing on August 11, 2002.
As a young woman, she was employed by Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory in Tunkhannock. After marrying her husband, Michael, they purchased a dairy farm and worked together to run the farm. In later years, they operated a successful welding business and continued crop farming until his passing. Freda enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling around the country, baking, gardening, dancing, and playing cards and games with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey, on March 30, 1976. She was also predeceased by her siblings Joseph Ball, Arthur Ball, Grace Ball, Lillian Ball, Julia Faux, Eleanor Coy, and Delores Kostantewicz.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Jim) Wildonger of Wyalusing; and Jacqueline Tokach (Ricardo Nunez) of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Marisa Wildonger and Christina Wildonger; two sisters, Nancy (Jim) Fitch of Falls, and Shirley Sichelstiel of Perry, GA; two sisters-in-law, Doris (Fred) Storey of Laceyville and Susanne Smith of Meshoppen; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Coy of Montrose, and Art Johnson of Mehoopany, as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Freda was able to stay in her home with the support of the following special caregivers who were Heidi Knolles, Paula Johnson Weaver, Alyssa Sherwood, Michele Estes, Lori Golden, Shirley Gavazzi, and Audrey Wintermute.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM from the St. Joachim's Roman Catholic Church in Meshoppen, PA. with Reverend Monsignor Robert J. Wargo of the church officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joachim's Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 SR 6, Meshoppen, PA on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
