Gary W. Bonavita, age 60, of Montrose, PA (formerly of Auburn Center) passed away on Friday afternoon, September 4, 2015 at the VNA Hospice Unit at CMC Hospital in Scranton, PA.

Gary was born on October 19, 1954 in Meshoppen, PA the son of the late Joseph J. (August 13, 2006) and Elizabeth Bell Bonavita (October 27, 2005).

He graduated from Elk Lake High School. He was employed with PENDOT for many years before retiring in 1987.

Gary thoroughly enjoyed his life outdoors hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and loving grandchildren.

He is survived by his children Joe Bonavita (Kayla Marks) of Nicholson, PA and Danielle Bonavita (Phil Hogan) of South Montrose, PA; grandchildren Kristen Bonavita, Madison Reed, and Julia Bonavita all of Nicholson, PA and Collin Hogan of South Montrose, PA; brothers John Bonavita of Auburn Center, PA and Robert Bonavita and his wife Mary of Auburn Center, PA; sister Betty Clark and her husband Bob of Mehoopany, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Mary Ann Bullock Bonavita (January 24, 2013).

There will be a private time of gathering at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may make memorial donations in Gary's name to the VNA Hospice and Home Health of Lackawanna County, 301 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.
