Gary W. Brown, age 73 of Zajac Lane, Nescopeck, PA, formally of Mehoopany, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at his home.

Gary was born in Meshoppen, PA, on August 6, 1949, the son of the late Kenneth B. Brown (d. May 19, 2012) and the late Anna M. Eddy Brown (d. August 3, 2011).

Growing up on the family farm in Scottsville, PA (Mehoopany), he was a graduate of the Wyalusing Valley High School with the class of 1967.

For over 31 years, Gary was employed at the Procter and Gamble Paper Products, in Mehoopany, PA, from 1968 until 1999, working as a Lab Technician throughout most of his time there. From 2015 until his retirement in 2019, Gary was employed at Arrow United, at their Indian Hill Plant, working as a fabricator.

Throughout his life, Gary was very involved coaching his sons, during their Little League years, and enjoyed watching them playing during their high school years. For many years he umpired many Little League games, and also many softball games, at many leagues throughout the area. While playing softball, he played in many leagues and for many teams, including, Bell Brothers, Bluhm's, Tugs Tavern, and Tombstone. During the winter months, Gary played darts for many teams, and leagues. He loved all of the years, hunting on the family farm in Scottsville, with his family and friends. Also another great intrest of Gary's, was the many hours he spent antiquing and collecting at several Estate Sales. During his down time, he loved being surrounded by his two cats, and loved relaxing with the scent of his burning candles. Most of all, Gary enjoyed all of the time he spent with his family and many friends, Gary could tell stories and he could tell many jokes, with the best of them.

Surviving are his two sons, Benjamin Brown, of Towanda, PA, and Jordan Brown, of Laceyville, PA. His long-time companion, Dorothy "Dottie" Atyani, of Drums, PA, three grandchildren, as well and his siblings, Karen and Michael Ciprich, of Mehoopany, PA, Terry and Phyllis Brown, of Mehoopany, PA, and Lynne Rought, of Laceyville, PA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tracy Brown (d. April 2, 1988), three nephews, Todd Ciprich (January 26, 2005), Greg Liddick (d. May 15, 2019), Michael Liddick (d. August 8, 2021) and his Great-Niece, Taylor Ciprich (d. July 10, 2016).

Funeral services will be held on Friday morning, July 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM, from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA, with Rev. Charles Bishop, of the Retta Community Church officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the North Flat Cemetery, in Laceyville, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, on Thursday evening, July 6, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
